Jose Peralta became the first Dominican-American elected to the New York State Senate in March 2010. He represents the 13th State Senate District, covering Jackson Heights, Corona, Elmhurst, East Elmhurst, and parts of Woodside and Astoria, the most diverse district in the United States. It is the United Nations of all State senate districts. Senator Peralta is a champion of economic development and job creation, advocates for working families, has fought to ensure that a quality public education is available to all, and is a fighter for immigrants’ rights.

The Dominico-American Society of Queens will host the 2017 Annual Turkey Drive in an effort to bring low-income families together at the dining table. Many cannot afford the traditional Thanksgiving dinner and share this time with their friends and family.

The Dominico American Society of Queens (DASQ) Benefit Concert will raise funds to further its response to the educational, social and cultural challenges that have hindered the development of the low-income immigrant community in New York City area.
Young musicians from New York City high and middle schools will perform solo compositions from the classical repertoire. All ticket proceeds will benefit the Dominico American Society of Queens’s effort to build contemporary website to serve its growing immigrant community.
